Bee Flower Hassocks
Borrow: 12 needle felted hexagonal hassocks.
Description: In 2012, as part of the Calendario project, 12 hexagonal hassocks (reflecting the structure of beehives) were decorated in drop-in workshops at the Armstrong library. Over 80 people worked together to needle felt one of 12 flowers that had been identified by local bee keepers as key sources of nectar and pollen for our bees.
The hassocks can arranged on the floor, handled and even sat on! Please enjoy this tuneless song that describes the order of the flowers.
Pre-Requisites: None.
Options: You can book an artist from Runaway Moon Theatre and/or a local beekeeper to come and give a mini workshop exploring how to work with the hassocks, to chat about bees, flowers, and all things related to these seasonal indicators.
